BetMGM Appoints NBA Veteran and ESPN Analyst Jalen Rose as Brand Ambassador.

BetMGM has announced Jalen Rose is its new brand ambassador in another move to solidify its market position within Michigan.

The 13-year veteran basketball player is a strategic move on the brand’s part in creating an all-star team to promote and enforce its brand.

The Deal

The agreement’s exact details have remained under wraps. However, it will see Rose interact with both BetMGM customers and MGM Resorts’ M Life Rewards members.

This partnership has come after the announcement of BetMGM partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings sports bars. The locations include Colorado, New Jersey, Indiana, Iowa, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Upcoming Responsibilities

Alongside those interactions, Rose’s responsibilities for BetMGM will include participating in marketing and promotional campaigns. This will include being a part of fan events and sustain the brand’s market position and reinforce its relationship with fans.

Rose has conveyed his excitement at being involved in the ever-evolving sports betting market with one of the most well-known sports betting brands. “There is so much excitement that has come with the growth of sports betting, and watching BetMGM navigate it has been extraordinary,” Rose commented. “It is so exciting to go from watching to then being involved with the BetMGM team and help them to defy industry expectations.”

Rose’s engagements with customers will be personal and virtual, and BetMGM will also feature him in its social media content. He will also be involved in BetMGM’s radio and television broadcasts.

Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer for BetMGM, has been highly enthusiastic about the deal, commenting:

“This will be an all-star expansion of the BetMGM team. Not only has Jalen Rose had a significant impact on basketball as a game, but he also adds more with his brilliant analysis. We are looking forward to a successful relationship and all of the great things it will bring with it.

About Jalen Rose

Jalen Rose played professional basketball for a few teams during his career, including his first being the Denver Nuggets in 1994. He then moved to the Indiana Pacers in 1996 until 2002. And this was then followed by a move to the Chicago Bulls in 2002. In 2004 Rose moved to the Toronto Raptors, and after two years to the New York Knicks in 2006.  Finally, he played for the Phoenix Suns in 2007.

Rose was a small forward for all six teams, most notably playing beside Reggie Miller in the Indiana Pacers. The team made it to three consecutive Eastern Conference finals, which included the 2000 NBA Finals.

He had a successful career, winning NBA Most Improved Player and other accolades. Following Jalen Rose’s basketball career, he became an acclaimed sports analyst for ESPN, where he co-hosts the ESPN sports talk show, Jalen & Jacoby, with David Jacoby. Rose is also a co-founder of the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy.

Jalen Rose’s Michigan Years

Rose was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1973. He started his basketball career at Southwestern High School in Detroit. Some of his teammates also went on to become NBA players, Voshon Lenard and Howard Eisley.

He very quickly gained notoriety and can be seen in the documentary film Hoop Dreams. Rose attended the University of Michigan, where he played for the Wolverines in two NCAA Finals, in 1992 and 1993, where they finished as national runners-up.

The Fab Five

In 1991 Michigan Coach Steve Fisher noticed Rose’s talent and recruited him to a squad that later became a legendary Wolverines basketball team. The team consisted of Detroit natives Chris Webber (#4) and Jalen Rose (#5), Juwan Howard from Chicago (#3), and two players from the state of Texas: Plano’s Jimmy King (#9) and Austin’s Ray Jackson (#24).

They were then dubbed the Fab Five and became the first NCAA basketball team to team in history to play at a championship game with starters that were all freshmen.  Beyond making college basketball history, the Fab Five revolutionalized the basketball look by having baggy uniform shorts, black socks, and black shoes.

Rose didn’t stop there. He scored the most baskets in his freshman year. He was considered the most outspoken person in the Fab Five and their leader and small forward. Despite this, the Fab Five didn’t win the NCAA title.
